Constitution

After some years of adopting a somewhat ad hoc approach to running our club, as part of the reorganisation taking place over the last few years, we adopted a constitution in 2003.  You can read this here

About the club

The club has gone through a period of growth recently,  with more than half of our members joining in the last two or three years.

What's more, they are a right mixed bag!  Ex- footballers, a doctor, teachers, a scientist, a purchasing manager, a few electricians, a plumber, a builder, a hotel manager, a waiter, a lawyer, students and school children are all to be found in our membership.

You'll not only find players from all over Fife - St. Andrews and Crail in the East, to Burntisland in the West, but from all over the world -Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, America and Hong Kong!

We've players of all ages, from eight through to retired. You'll also find players of all abilities, from experts graded over 2000 to relative novices.  So, whatever your standard, you will find players of a similar strength to play against and stronger players to assist you in improving your game.

Many of the games we play are sent in to Chess Scotland for 'grading'.  These games, along with any games you play in congresses or leagues, determine the grade you are awarded at the end of season.  Regular updates are downloaded from Chess Scotland and posted on this site. This means you can see the current state of your grade by clicking on the grading links on the front page
