Club Championships 2006-07

(a)

Three trophies are on offer: Championship, Major (below 1650) and Minor (between 700 and 1349) will be as follows

 

(b)

The twenty two entrants are divided into Pool A (the eleven highest-graded) and Pool B (the remainder)

 

(c)

Each pool is an all-play-all ‘league

 

(d)

Where a player has no grade, provisionals grades will be used or, failing this, an estimate.

 

(e)

The winner of Pool A is club champion

 

(f)

The highest-finishing player graded under 1650 in Pool A (or the next highest if club champion is graded less than 1650) plays the winner of Pool B for the Major championship – the player with the highest ‘above-grading’ performance takes the white pieces.

 

(g)

The highest-finishing player graded under 1350 in Pool B is Minor champion.  Where this person wins Pool B, the following happens: a)if said person loses the Major play-off, he becomes Minor champion and b) if said person wins the Major play-off, the second highest finisher graded under 1350 becomes Minor champion.

(a)

The deadline for entries is Saturday 9th September (exceptions may be made for newcomers not aware of agm)

 

(b)

The deadline for completion is the first  Monday in June

(a)

Players arrange their own fixtures

 

(b)

Fixtures should be played at the club on Monday nights.  Occasional fixtures may be played at other times/places – provided there is good reason.

 

(c)

Players must meet the following fixtures deadlines:

·          Three fixtures must be played by Xmas

·          Five fixtures must be played by the last Monday in March

 

(d)

Where a player fails to meet fixture deadlines, he/she will take no further part in the competion and any games played by this player  will be transferred to the Grayson Cup

(a)

In the event of any tie breaks the following applies:

(i)                   head to head results count

(ii)                 the highest ‘above-grading’ performance wins

(a)

These rules will be applied rigorously.

 

(b)

Exceptions will be made only in extenuating circumstances  where the matter is brought to the attention of the secretary and/or president in good time.

 

(c)

Where a player has ‘won’ a trophy or qualified for a play off prior to completion of all his/her fixtures (i.e. the outcome cannot be affected by the results of outstanding fixtures) he/she may still be awarded the title providing there were good reasons for non-completion.

 

(d)

Those entering must pay a £10 deposit, returnable upon completion of all necessary fixtures.

Any matter not covered by these rules shall be brought to the attention of the Committee, who will rule on the matter.
